Meet the team: Aimee

Aimee is one of our Enrolment Consultants and has been in the travel industry for over 7 years. Get to know why Aimee chose a career in the travel industry.

Why did you choose to work in the travel industry?

I had just come home from living in London for two years and had the travel bug. I had lots of travel plans and wanted a career that would allow me to combine this.

Career history?

I started my career in the industry working at STA Travel as a travel consultant. I worked up to Assistant store Manager within my 3.5 years. From here I made the move over to Flight Centre and worked within the Website Customer Support team, assisting customers who booked on any of the FCTG websites in Australia and New Zealand. After working there for two years, I made the move to Enrolments consultant in the Flight Centre Travel Academy and have been here for almost 18 months now.

Favourite part of your job?

I love getting potential students excited about the possibilities their career can offer them, as there are so many directions and paths you can take in Travel and Tourism.

Favourite place you've travelled?

This is like asking a mother to chose a favourite child. Iceland is up there with my favourite travel memories, I visited in winter and the scenery was stunning. We road tripped the south of the island and played with Icelandic horses along the way, snowmobiled on a glacier and saw more waterfalls that I have in my life, and each one was as beautiful as the last.

Funny travel memory/mishap?

When I moved to London it was only my second time overseas so I got a real shock and lesson when I dropped and lost my passport as soon as I had come through the passport check in London Stansted airport. I realised this within about 10 minutes of passing through but it seemed to be long gone. I was off to Spain two days later so travel plans were on hold but I luckily called the airport the following day and someone had handed it in.. I now do a check - passport, wallet, phone every time I leave a plane, train, hotel or cab.

Fun fact about you?

I grew up in a small country town (population around 2000) so moving to London at 21 was a bit of a shock to the system.
