Unsure whether you should take the plunge into one of our Travel and Tourism Courses? We asked some of our graduates, “If you could share one piece of advice for others looking at getting into the industry, what would it be?” – here are their answers for you!
“I would definitely advise people thinking about it to take a leap of faith and do it. It is something you could never regret. Travel is such a vast industry and is something that will make you become a life long learner – there will always be something new.”
“Follow your heart, follow your passion. I’m 47 years of age which goes to show you’re never too old to follow your dreams.”
“If you enjoy travelling and would like to get paid to travel I would recommend training with Flight Centre Academy. Not only do you get training in travel and business but the trainers are there to help you with hands-on, practical experience every step of the way.”
“The best advice I can give is to listen to your facilitators, they have a wealth of knowledge and are always there to give support when needed. If you do not understand something or are having difficulty and need to ask for assistance, they are there to help you and push you to succeed. Make sure you stay on top of the assignments and ensure they are submitted on time (before if you can). Make sure read the slides that are provided because they may have some excellent information. The best way is to print off the assignments and fill them out as you are watching the slides because they will definitely help you. Most importantly though, smile and breathe - you've got this!”
“Go for it! Live your dream! Find your passion and make it your career. You can do it, no matter the circumstance because if you really want it, you can make it happen!”
“Just go for it! I'm a 'What if' person and I doubt decisions I make at times but diving head first into this industry has been the greatest move I've made! I don't have extensive travel knowledge and that was something I worried about however, I have learnt that this industry is more than just that. If you love people, if you love travel and if you have the determination and the courage to say 'yes' to every opportunity that presents itself, then this is the right path for you. Don't be afraid to take that leap of faith; I can guarantee you won't regret it.”
