Sustainable Tourism - SUS101FC

Understanding sustainable concepts within the travel and tourism industry.

SUS101FC is an elective subject of the Diploma of Travel and Tourism delivered in partnership between Flight Centre Travel Academy and Torrens University Australia.

⭐ 1 SEMESTER   ⭐ 18 WEEKS  ⭐ 6 MODULES

What to expect

Throughout the 18-week program, students will learn about sustainable tourism concepts encompassing environmental, social, and economic aspects. By researching current regenerative practices in the industry, students will grasp how to articulate these practices effectively when interacting with customers at work. From climate change to corporate social responsibility, carbon emissions to conservation, this course will deepen students' understanding of regenerative principles.

During the course, students will:

  • Recognise and discuss the importance of sustainable tourism concepts for the travel and tourism sector and its key players.
  • Evaluate how regenerative travel impacts decision-making at both organisational and individual levels.
  • Convey the significance of sustainable tourism to various stakeholders.
  • Ponder on how sustainable tourism concepts influence professional conduct.
  • Delve into Corporate Social Responsibility along with its economic, social, and environmental implications.

According to the World Tourism Organization, sustainable tourism is ‘Tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment, and host communities’.
